My Big Announcement!

I’ve decided to break the news here first. Why…for one because no body even knows yet of this blog existing. Second, this kinda is a piece of the big news. Third, because maybe I can think up some clever way to drive people to this page and start gaining some traffic to my new adventure. 

So what is this big, exciting news that I’ve been hinting at and referring to for the past couple weeks? Okay, here it is…if I put it in writing that makes it official right? And once it’s official then there is no turning back. Well, there’s always that possibility to change your mind but that’s what I’m trying to avoid. I’m rambling aren’t I? I kinda have the tendency to do that when I’m nervous or excited about something. If you’ve watched any of my YouTube video’s (which I hope you have) then you know I can ramble on and on.

Anyways, I digressing. The big announcement is after 2 years of being a full time stay-at-home mom I am heading back to work. I am nervous, scared, terrified by that notion but it’s also not what you might be thinking. I’m not heading back to the salon but rather I am making this my new full time job. What is this…well, I’m still trying to figure that precisely out. Am I a blogger, affiliate, content creator, or influencer? It seems like a lot of different tittles for pretty much the same job. But while I’ve been working behind the scenes, studying and learning so much that goes on behind the scenes I’m finding that each one of those is a distinctly different job and are viewed differently by brands and how they work with you. 

Full transparency, I do not have the financial means to invest in this business as I would like to. So that means I am having to do it 100% on my own on a shoe string budget. That makes climbing this mountain of a journey that much more demanding. Not to mention that I have never done ANYTHING like this or similar to this before in my life and I am having to learn everything as I go along. 

My total financial investment into this thus far has been under $300 and the only reason why I’ve been able to do what I’ve done already is because I already had some equipment to get me started. First I have my iPhone where I shoot and edit all of my videos and photos for instagram, Facebook, and tiktok. Next I am using a GoPro that I got for my husband as a father’s day gift last year to film all of my YouTube videos. I also use a ring light that I had purchased back in 2016 to use along with a camera I had gotten. Finally I am using my computer that I have had since 2015 to edit all my YouTube videos, write my blog articles (like this one,) build and manage my website, apply to and email brands for partnerships and all the other administrative stuff that I handle. So most of that $300 was towards building and hosting this website and $30 for a tripod to hold my phone. 

Just for comparison it took $10k to start up and get my mini salon suite up and running. But, that’s how I know that I can do this, that is why I am trying and that is why I believe in myself. If I can take the skills I learned from growing and building a successful business in my previous career, I can do it again with this one. The first lesson I learned was this: I can’t do it alone. The only way I’m truly going to succeed is with people supporting and believing in me and seeing the value that I have to offer. 

I’ve all ready been humbled and overwhelmed by those of you who have reached out with encouragement and offered support. Thank you just doesn’t seem adequate for the gratitude I feel.
