Raising Spiritual Children in a Modern World
The Profound Role of Mothers Guiding Little Hearts to God
Motherhood is a transformative journey that can touch every aspect of a woman’s life, including her faith. For many, the experience of becoming a mother brings about a deep spiritual awakening and strengthens their connection to God. We are then tasked with the responsibility of raising spiritual children and teaching them the importance of God in a modern world.
Finding Peace in the Chaos

In the midst of life’s chaos and turbulence, I want to become a beacon to my children as an example of how we can turn to Jesus. I hope they learn not to be overwhelmed by the storms that come their way but to turn to God as their refuge. With tenderness I want to share the importance of seeking solace in prayer and embracing the peace that can only come from God.
Strength When We are weak
As a mother, I’ve had countless moments when I’ve felt overwhelmed, tired, and unsure of my abilities. The weight of responsibility and the challenges of parenting can sometimes make us feel weak. But in those moments, I’ve found a source of strength that never wavers, and I’ve made it a point to teach my children this invaluable lesson: God gives you strength when you are weak
Through my own experiences and teachings, I hope to instill in my children the understanding that weakness is not a flaw; it’s an opportunity for God to reveal His strength in us. With faith, even the most challenging moments can become opportunities for growth, resilience, and unwavering trust in His plan.
Unconditional Love
Becoming a mother has taught me one invaluable lesson, and that is what it TRULY means to love unconditionally. The love I have for my children is the same as the love God gives to us, completely unwavering and unending.
Yet, I’m going to go one step further, the love that God has for us is beyond the love we have for our children. Because I am flawed and I make mistakes. God, however, is perfect and does not make mistakes.
Patience and Surrender
As my children continue to get older one thing that I have not been prepared for is the amount of patience it takes to parent them. The challenge to not rush in and take over, but to let them struggle and figure things out for themselves has been nail biting at times.
Just as I have to let go sometimes and let my children struggle in order to learn and to grow, it has opened my eyes how God often has had to do the same for me. But how many times am I guilty of resisting surrender of control?
Motherhood can be challenging, testing one’s patience, and demanding surrender to circumstances beyond one’s control. The act of surrendering and placing trust in God becomes a lesson in faith itself. Mothers learn to let go of the need for constant control and develop faith in the process of life.

raising Spiritual Children
“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6
The responsibility of raising my children and letting them see how I lean on and depend upon my faith to help me be a better mother is not taken lightly. I take it as my own responsibility to nurture my children’s spiritual curiosity and growth. Aside from helping them to develop moral values, I want to give them the knowledge and security to know that they can always turn to and look to God.
It is completely up to my children to make their own decision of what their faith looks like, but my prayer is for them to one day come to the decision to surrender their hearts and lives to God. This means trusting in God to do the work in their hearts to transform them. It’s not my job to force my beliefs on my children but to present them through how I live my own life.
My job as a mother is not to “save” my children. I’m imperfect and I fall short daily. I do not posses the divine power to gift my children with salvation. That is only done through Christ and his sacrifice for their sins. I can only point my children to Christ, over and over and over again. It’s up to their own hearts if they choose to commit and accept him as their own savior.
Conculsion
Motherhood has the potential to be a deeply spiritual and faith-strengthening experience. Through the miracles of life, the lessons of unconditional love, patience, and surrender, the gratitude for simple joys, and the bonds of community, mothers often find their faith renewed and fortified.
Being a mom becomes a spiritual journey of its own, one that can lead to a more profound connection with God and a deeper understanding of his love for us. As mothers, we not only nurture the bodies and minds of our children but also their souls, and in doing so, we strengthen our own faith along the way.
